Krakow's only design hotel

Word to the wise: Andel's has a state-of-the-art gym and sauna, open 6am – 10pm.

In a city full of old-fashioned hotels housed in ancient buildings, Andel's is unashamedly modern. Part of a new, small chain (there are others in Poland and Prague), the name is officially written as 'andel's' - it's a lower-case kind of place.

Using locally sourced materials, award-winning architects Jestico + Whiles have created sleek, highly considered interiors. Rooms are decorated in muted mauves and greys with flame-coloured accents and equipped with flat screen televisions, DVD players, air conditioning and wi-fi.

The hotel's Delight Restaurant serves very good international and Polish cuisine - on the terrace if it's warm - while Oscar's Bar is a great spot for an aperitif before heading into town for dinner.
