Home to Belvedere Castle
Word to the wise: The southern part of this district is predominately residential. Most of the things you’ll want to take in are in the northern part, closer to the city centre.

If you make your way into Landstraße, you’ll want to check out Belvedere Castle and its splendid gardens. Southern Landstraße is primarily a residential area, and not of particular interest. There are a few buildings in this district to take note of, especially the vivid Hundertwasserhaus, a colourful apartment block demonstrating just how fun a living space can be. The artist and the architect who created it (Friedensreich Hundertwasser and Joseph Krawina, respectively) had very playful imaginations indeed.
If you’d like to see more of Friedensreich Hundertwasser’s work, swing by the Kuntz Haus Wien Museum, also located in Landstraße. The museum houses many of this Jewish artist’s paintings and other creative endeavours.
