The Kerala Tourism Department Corporation (KTDC) properties in Periyar promise the most vantage access to the forest, as they lie within the forest premises. They span different budgets making it convenient for travellers to choose what suits them. One has to be mindful of the fact that since the sanctuary gates close at 6 pm, you need to return to the hotels in time. If informed in advance, the guards at the sanctuary gate can give you a levy.

Lake Palace
Of all three properties inside the forest, Lake Palace is the most luxurious and lies by the edge of the Periyar River. The fact that you can reach it only by boat that makes the stay even more intriguing. The vintage feel of the refurnished building and stunning views from your room are the biggest draw of the property.

Aranya Nivas
Aranya Nivas is the medium budget option of the KTDC coterie. Apart from comfortable rooms, a swimming pool and a bar in the hotel add to the charm of staying here. It is recommended to choose the upper floor rooms for better view.

Periyar House
Budget travellers steer towards Periyar House for its reasonably good but basic facilities. The rooms are slightly cosy so you can opt for the suite facility if needed. The guesthouse has an in-house restaurant so you don’t have to step outside to eat.
