As per the reports, the gorgeous 2-tier cafe has been set up in a double-decker bus alongside the Vaikom backwaters to boost tourism. It was inaugurated by State Tourism Minister PA Mohammad Riyas and Kerala Transport Minister Antony Raju. The Transport MInister, in his Facebook post, stated that this case is one of their coveted projects to reuse old buses of KSRTC.
With this innovation, tourists can now gorge on delicious regional cuisine, while enjoying the panoramic view of the Vaikom backwaters, in a double-decker bus.
As per the reports, to set up this unique cafe, an old KSRTC bus was procured, whereas an upper deck was added on top of it. Then, the bus was beautifully decorated and set up at a dumping yard near motel Aaram.
Reportedly, the said concept has been inspired by Sayahna, the KSTDC run Hotel Mascot in Thiruvananthapuram. The space where the Foodie Wheels has been set up has also got a makeover, and looks like the garden restaurant of Sayahna.
To make this project a reality, INR 35-lakhs have been reportedly invested to refurbish the bus, and create an ideal tourist spot in the backwaters of Vaikom.
