Kuah is the commercial hub of Langkawi and has quite a few attractions. The town has a beautiful quay with a manmade waterfront where most ferries arrive. The landmark attraction is undoubtedly Dataran Square, also known as Eagle square. The intimidating eagle sculpture stands gazing at the sea with its spread out wings. It is one of the most sought after locations in Langkawi for a photo shoot. This popular place also has fountains and gardens in its surroundings. Al-Hana mosque in Moorish architecture is quite an attractive place to visit near the waterfront. Atma Alam handicraft centre is where the visitors have an insight about Batik, a textile dyeing technique with paintings. They are quite popular and along with numerous handicrafts, it is one of the preferred memories to take back home. Kuah town also houses the Mahsuri Tomb, which was built in the memory of a princess. Taman Lagenda is a beautiful theme park with sculptures from Langkawi folklore. Being a shopping centre, the town has innumerable duty free shops which sell a wide range of things. Apart from shopping options, the town has numerous accommodation choices, restaurants and an exciting nightlife.
