Derek Freal abandoned the American Dream in 2009 to travel the world and eventually realized that Asia is the best part, which is why most of his writing covers India to Indonesia (and everywhere in between). However Derek"s specialty is in unique and offbeat travel guides -- not just for Asia but countries across the globe -- and in producing travel videos. All this and more as the nomadic journey continues on http://blog.theHoliDaze.com.
The food at Ace Cafe is limited primarily to Indian and Nepali dishes or rather, that is what they are best at. Although the menu does have burgers and pizza on it, as well as a few Chinese dishes, trust me on this one and just skip those. They will only be a disappointment.
It is also worth mentioning that Ace’s is home to some of the cheapest food prices in Thamel. So cheap you almost feel guilty. A paneer paratha will set you back Rs 40. Their chicken curry is Rs 100. Or if you want to splurge, a Nepalese chicken rice Thali set costs Rs 170. At those prices you can definitely afford to get a beer or two with dinner. Enjoy!
Best Bet? Order either a Thali or Newari set (Rs 130-200) and a cold beer, then strike up a conversation with whoever is nearby while you wait for your food.
