TIMINGS:9 AM to 5 PM

Expansive courtyards, walls decorated with intricate carvings, regal halls made in sandstone and the royal charm of the interiors combine to make the Mehrangarh Fort one of India’s most majestic forts. Reminiscent of royal Rajput culture and architecture, the fort is surrounded by imposing walls and perched on a hillock overlooking the vibrant city of Jodhpur. The museum located in the fort complex will tell you tales of the past, showcasing royal palanquins, swords, paintings and old music instruments. A steep path meandering through the fort compounds leads you to various halls and enclosures, and as you climb up to cannon point—the highest vantage point of the fort—you will be left admiring gorgeous sunsets and a bird’s eye view of Jodhpur’s blue-coloured houses. Before leaving, head towards the terrace restaurant Chokelao Mahal for a traditional Rajasthani thali.
