Although there aren’t too many restaurants in Kashmir to choose from, there are a handful of places known for dishing out authentic Kashmiri fare that are definitely worth a visit. International fare is best eaten at restaurants housed within hotels, but the local cuisine can be sampled at a various spots—ranging from affordable to somewhat expensive—across the state. Don’t forget to sample some of the famous baked goods while you’re there—from freshly baked Kashmiri bread to cookies and sweet stuff—although you’ll have to hit the bakeries in the first half of the day, since the good stuff gets sold out pretty quick.
