IRCTC has wonderful travel packages for travellers in India, and one such is the Chennai-Munnar-Thekkady Rail Tour. This gives travellers a chance to explore South India with the help of Indian Railways, and relish the beauty of nature.
The train journey will be made in Standard Class, and there will be transportation for the entire tour available in non-AC vehicles. You will also be given standard hotels at destinations to stay in, wherein your room fare and breakfast is paid for. You would be taken for sightseeing and excursions as per the itinerary in each location. Plus, you are also given travel insurance.
You can expect to visit the following destinations during your Chennai-Munnar-Thekkady Rail Tour –
Day 1 – Chennai Railway Station – Board the train to Ernakulam Junction railway station.
Day 2 – Ernakulam Junction Railway Station to Munnar by road. You will check in into a hotel, and enjoy sightseeing and shopping for the day.
Day 3 – Trip to the Eravikulam National Park and Tea Museum, and then move to Thekkady, wherein you will check into a hotel.
Day 4 – At Thekkady, you will be enjoying a boat ride in the lake of the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary, and also sightseeing. Later, you will head to the Ernakulam Junction Railway Station, and board the train to Chennai.
Day 5 – Finally, from Chennai Railway Station, you will be transferred to the airport or you can board another train home from the station itself.
