In fact, you will be surprised to know that the unique permanent guests of this hotel are the Peabody Ducks, who live on the hotel’s rooftop and are known for performing a march toward the Grand Lobby twice daily. If reports are to go by, this unique tradition dates back to 1933 when the general manager returned from a hunting trip and placed several live duck decoys in the hotel’s fountain. And following guests’ positive response, the decoys were replaced by five mallard ducks.
So, when you even plan to visit this place, make sure you keep your camera handy for a photo op as the ducks waddle by.
The palace is actually a replica of the hotel where the ducks can nest, and comes complete with a grassy front yard.
