History
We should thank Rao Karamsji, the eighth son of Rao Jodha, for Khimsar Fort. Given its strategic location, the fort served as a bastion of defense against invaders and as a seat of power for the Khimsar clan. The fort witnessed several battles that left an indelible mark on its architecture, which is a perfect blend of Rajput and Mughal styles.
In the late 20th century, Thakur Onkar Singh of the same clan opened the fort to the world with a vision to preserve the heritage and offer travellers a unique Rajasthani cultural experience. Today, the fort is a luxury heritage hotel that has retained its authenticity of the original structure.
A heritage hotel
But this fort is so much more than luxury; it offers an insight into the rich culture of Rajasthan. Guests can enjoy traditional Rajasthani music and dance performances under the starlit desert sky. Camel ride through the sand dunes is also a must!
One can also watch local artisans at the workshops working on pottery, block printing, and jewellery making.
