Slightly cheaper than most design-conscious Barcelona hotels, the Room Mate Pau matches a good central location right next to Plaça de Catalunya with a fresh-looking modern decor. While public areas tend towards the quirky - notice the deliberately wonky-looking wooden reception desk - the rooms themselves are fairly clean-cut, though given a contemporary edge with wood-tiled bathrooms and a decorative scheme of bold circular cut outs.
