Run by the Neemrana group, the Hotel de l’Orient is located in a meticulously-restored 18th-century French building close to Pondicherry’s sea-facing promenade. Awarded by UNESCO for preserving cultural heritage, it has 14 spacious rooms and two airy deluxe suites, appropriately appointed with antique furniture and accessories. The hotel’s central courtyard houses the Carte Blanche restaurant which serves Franco-Tamil-Creole cuisine. Guided walks, sightseeing excursions and Ayurvedic massages can be organised on request.
