Of all the places that I visited in Japan, Hiroshima stayed with me for reasons other than its melancholic past. I have learnt perseverance, besides learning all about Japanese cuisine. The list of 10 best restaurants in Hiroshima is an amalgamation of world cuisine and Japanese cuisine – one of the finest cuisines of modern times.

Very few people might be aware of the fact that Hiroshima, apart from being deeply entrenched in one of the worst historical events the world has ever witnessed, is a modern city that is rapidly growing with every passing day. The food culture of this Japanese giant, albeit underrepresented, is exciting and manifests itself in the many restaurants and cafes lining the city. While some serve the usual Japanese fare, the others encapsulate culinary traditions from perhaps every corner of the planet. A few, on the other hand, are solely dedicated to a delightful dish that was invented in the city. And then there are the more modern and laid-back establishments that cater to people with particular tastes. This city has a little bit of everything for everyone – right from the vegans to hardcore meat eaters.

Owing to the fact that restaurant hunting can get a tad bit time consuming and downright intimidating, here is a list of the ten best places that you can dine in while travelling around Hiroshima, Japan’s emblem of resilience. The city deserves a lot more credit as a thoroughly enjoyable cosmopolitan destination than it gets.
