It’s the type of place where you’d expect to actually see Miyajima's special handicrafts such as bamboo ladles, ceramic bells and sculptures from locally run shops and studios. This place also trades in yummy eats that are worth keeping an eye on as you go about shopping. Sample the oysters, fish paste sticks, other sea foods, gourmet sweets, and the fried momiji-manju, the the most popular maple leave shaped sweet cake. Each shop on the street makes its own momiji-manju, such is the popularity of this on-the-go snack.
