Go for a cruise around Hiroshima Bay. Owing to the fact that it is incredibly close to the Seto Inland Sea, water activities and transportation around Hiroshima’s many islands is quite popular among tourists. When in the city, you could go for a sunset cruise or book a yacht (if you can spend a lot of money) or even paddle a kayak to your heart’s content. While Miyajima Island with its Itsukushima Shrine and the massive Torii Gate is the most popular cruise destination, the Ferris Wheel that stands outside the Marina Hop Shopping Mall and the Yoshijima Incineration Plant are equally interesting sights along the bay.
You can book sunset cruises individually, which come for anything between 5000 and 10000 Yen per person. An elaborate meal is served to the guests along with drinks. These cruises last for approximately two hours and their service is usually not available on Mondays. Overnight cruises with fancy rooms offer an experience like no other and are exclusively available for tourists who like to indulge. Speaking of an even higher form of indulgence, booking a sailboat or a yacht for an entire day should cost you around 15000 Yen. Do not miss out on this opportunity as you can enjoy the breeze and the glorious views of the azure waters interspersed with the golden sunset in the background. This is when you will realise that life is indeed good.
