Chalal village is a 20 minute walk from Kasol and a much quieter place to enjoy the serenity of Parvati Valley. It is a quaint and beautiful village, with many guesthouses and basic homestays, surrounded by tall pine trees, on the banks of the roaring Parvati river. The way to Chalal begins from near Alpine Guest House in Kasol by crossing a bridge over the Parvati river.

On your way to Chalal from Kasol, there are some camps that are set up for nature lovers to stay in the jungle. There is a small slender stone path in Chalal and the village is mostly used as a stopover on the way to Rasol. There is a temple on the right side of the road in Chalal but outsiders are not allowed to enter.

Katagla village is about 40 minutes’ walk from Chalal on the same path along the Parvati river. It is a smaller village than Chalal, but is even more beautiful because of its remote location and lesser people. Katagla lies right next to the Parvati river and one can hear the sound of gushing water everywhere. In case of any confusion in reaching Katagla, it is better to ask a local in Chalal. There are 3-4 homestays and simple guesthouses in Katagla for visitors to stay.
