Also known as Virupaksha Bazaar, a kilometre long stretch of shops is located in front of Virupaksha Temple. The ancient pavilions on either side are indicative of what used to be a thriving market centuries ago. In spite of only the ruins that remain today, this spot is thronged by tourists and is highly popular. The west end of the street is mainly filled with small shops and restaurant owners. The huge Nandi, also known as Yeduru Basavanna, at the east end of the street is one of the highlights of the market. It is a great place to experience local shopping and pick some interesting collectibles including the replica of the Hampi ruins.
