Standing on the edge of the silent Mandovi River, the Reis Magos Fort is the oldest fort in Goa. It is a property of Government of Goa and after an agreement signed between Helen Hamlyn Trust, INTACH and the government in 2007, the fort went through a five-year-restoration process. It finally opened its gates to the public in 2012. The fort is held together by sturdy laterite walls and predates the famous Fort Aguada. This space within this fort has been used as a war barrier, a prison and a hospital. Apart from its impeccable history, the main highlight of the fort remains the outstanding views. It borders the river and from every corner, one can see the seamless horizons of the Arabian Sea.
