The small venue for big names
Regularly touted as the best small music venue in the world, King Tut's Wah Wah Hut (known locally as Tut's) has become Glasgow's, and some would say the UK's, best launchpad for emerging bands and artists. With a tiny capacity of 300, this indie-orientated venue has the double advantage of giving up-and-coming acts a fair chance of playing to a decent sized crowd but also provides a unique opportunity for established bands to get intimate with their fans. So to speak.
Over the years respected acts such as Pulp, Beck, The Strokes, Radiohead and Hot Chip have all entertained the zealous and sweaty masses here. But don't sing its praises too loudly - the venue is also responsible for launching the career of professional Mancunians Oasis, so it's not perfect.
