An open-air theatre with contemporary productions
Limonaia di Villa Strozzi is a 19th century neoclassical orangery that is today home to an important centre for contemporary art, boasting everything from architectural exhibitions to an elite fashion school. But it’s just outside the main building that you come across the project’s flagship creation: a wonderful open-air theatre.
The Teatro della Limonaia di Villa Strozzi, as it’s predictably called, is a 380-seat outdoor structure with a large stage, excellent acoustics and comfy leather seats for audience members. It offers a wide variety of Italian and international productions - from drama to dance - all year round, with several of the shows played or subtitled in English.
