Believe it or not, there are actually quite a few beaches in and around the city of Edmonton, and with hot summer temperatures, it’s a no brainer to pack up and head to the beach for the day. Wabamun Lake Provincial Park is located outside of Edmonton, within an hour’s drive, and provides the perfect little getaway when the kids can splash in the shallow waters and build sandcastles all day long. Not only is the water perfect for swimming but there is a slew of other things to do here including a playground for the kids to climb on, a pier that is perfect for relaxing on and plenty of boats coming in and out to watch. Change rooms, fire pits and plenty of grassy areas to enjoy a picnic lunch complete this awesome beach area. Another beach located close to Edmonton is Ma-Me-O Beach on Pigeon Lake which offers white sand, clear shallow waters and plenty of picnic sites. Families often head to this beach on warm sunny days and enjoy swimming, laughing and playing all day long.
