Nagaland’s latest attraction is the organic dragon fruit wine by a woman entrepreneur

A woman entrepreneur in Nagaland just launched a 100 per cent organic dragon fruit wine, which is doing rounds on the internet lately. Nagaland's Lucy Ngullie, who created this unique fruit wine, lives in Dimapur district’s beautiful Shitovi village. The wine was formally launched by the Public Relations Officer of the Dimapur, Lolano Patton at Ngullie’s ‘Dream Dragon Fruit Farm’.

Ngullie said that she learned the art of winemaking from a Philippino winemaker and all the ingredients used in making the 100 per cent organic dragon fruit wine were directly imported from Canada.
“I humbly hope that this venture would encourage and inspire fellow Naga farmers to learn how to be self-reliant and not always depend on government subsidies or intervention,” said Nguillie.

Ngullie started a wine-making venture in 2019 and, as of now, the dragon fruit wine will be made available in two red and white variants only and each bottle will be priced at INR 1100.

Talking about launching in the market, she said that the wine will be up for sale by February next year. A lot of people have already pre-ordered their bottles. She further said that because these fruits are seasonal and perishable, turning them into wine also saves them from wastage.

She already has a huge line of orders to meet for the wine and given the limited quantity, she will need another year to meet the demand. But until then, wine lovers can head to Nashik in Maharashtra which is the wine hub of the country. More than 90 per cent of the wine in India is produced here.
