Tucked in a dark and less explored lane, Jimmy’s Italian Kitchen, serves the best Italian in town. With retro music playing perennially, great service and value-for-money fare it's totally worth the effort of walking down here. This wood-oven fired pizza, priced at Rs 150 is enough for three hungry souls.

Tomato bruschetta
Nicks is a really popular joint and nothing sells here like the tomato bruschettas (Rs 60).

Tibetan thenthuk
Typical Tibetan noodles soup made with meat stock with very mild flavours at Momo Café, priced at Rs 70. The main ingredients are wheat flour dough (mostly like flat noodles), mixed vegetables and some pieces of chicken.

Thai green curry with rice
Ok so it isn't particularly authentic, but Thai food aficionadoes can find decent green and red curries at a few restaurants which just about make the grade.

Spinach tart
The humble spinach gets a succulent makeover in this fabulous tart. Available widely at most bakeries in town.

Potato-cheese gnocchi
It tastes better than it looks. The potato-cheese gnocchi is more for those who like their food simple and shorn of spices.

Honey lemon ginger tea
While in the hills you just cant miss having a sip of this staple. Priced at Rs 40- 60, it’s available almost at all cafes.

Glass noodles soup with black mushrooms
While you visit the Norbulingka Institute, don’t forget to visit the open air Norling Café. The café is known for its vegetarian international cuisine. Favourites include the fresh-baked pita bread and typical Tibetan dishes. Their USP is the glass noodles soup with black mushrooms (Rs 200).
