If you’re a vegetarian, or even just a healthy eater, you will fall in love with this quaint and gorgeous little restaurant. A little oasis of health and happiness inconspicuously located along a quiet street in Sai Ying Pun, Grassroots Pantry is owned and run by chef Peggy Chan, who has personally tended to every aspect of her restaurant—from the nutritious menu to the thoughtful and charming interiors. The restaurant comprises of a small patio out front, surrounded by potted plants, bushes and creepers snaking their way down from the parapet above, accommodating about eight to ten diners at a time. Within, a modest space (also enough for about the same number of diners as the outside) is decorated with vintage wallpaper, comfy mismatched furniture, colourful rugs and quaint knick-knacks. The menu here is committed to serving wholesome and healthy vegetarian dishes using local, sustainable and organic products. Taking inspiration from cuisines around the world, a majority of the dishes are plant-based, and must-eats include the palak paneer, cold soba noodles, Thai curry, and a delicious raw blueberry cheesecake.
