Otsuka

A shining gem of the Arashiyama neighbourhood, Otsuka, for a lot of locals and tourists, is synonymous with beef. The rare Murasawa, Wagyu and Kobe beef varieties served here, albeit terribly expensive, are hands down the best steaks you will ever eat in your life. The meat melts in your mouth like butter and makes you crave multiple helpings. And these come with a generous side of vegetables, miso soup and pickles. Interestingly, the chefs also do Korean style ribs if that is your cup of tea.
Located in a relatively quiet residential area (just like most restaurants in Kyoto), Otsuka is slightly difficult to trace but is worth your patience. The price, ranging from 1000–2000 Yen is pretty reasonable for the quality of steaks you consume. Props are in order for its explanatory English menu and flawless service. Given the large number of people crowding this eatery during lunch, you might have to wait for quite some time, therefore try to make a reservation in advance. Do keep in mind that this place, despite its popularity, is strictly not for hardcore vegetarians. All in all, Otsuka truly deserves the fantastic reputation that it enjoys and you have to visit it in order to discover its magic.
