Few desserts are more street-friendly than a hot tub of crunchy-sweet churros, and the ones made by the Spanish family at Churros Garcia definitely hit the sweet spot. Runners-up at the British Street Food Awards, this outfit was originally started about 40 years ago by the matriarch in the family, and the legacy is being continued by the second generation. You’ll find their stall at Portobello Market on most days, where their hand-made churros are sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar, and served fresh, straight out of the fryer and into a cup of scalding dark, Spanish chocolate. It doesn’t get much better than this.
