Antica Pizzeria Port'Alba, world's first pizzeria, has travellers swearing by it!

This place has its roots tracing back to 1738, when it was started as a food stand for passersbys. Eventually, it moved to the city centre in 1830 and became a major meeting point, where traders would gather to discuss business and have great food as well.

It, now, stands tall and famous in a line of bookstores, frequented by pizza lovers from all over the world. It is believed that the pizzeria has its ovens lined with lava rocks from Mt Vesuvius (still active)! While Italy is the undisputed haven for food, perhaps the best in the world, Antica Pizzeria Port'Alba is perhaps one of its most important landmarks for foodies.

After all, this can also be claimed as the first noted birthplace of pizza as we know it in the contemporary world. Unlike most other eateries, this is a no-frills place, nothing flashy here, for the place stands for the purest of flavours and simple ingredients. The place soared in travellers’ imagination after finding a mention in the Julia Robert movie, Eat Pray Love.
