K.C. Das

K.C. Das is one of the most popular confectioners in the City of Joy. Named after Krishna Chandra Das, the shop is synonymous with rossogolla which was created by K.C. Das’ father Nobin Chandra Das who started a sweet shop in 1866. K.C. Das, who created rossomalai, opened his first shop in 1930 and years later, his son incorporated K.C. Das as a private limited company. While the shop is most coveted for its rossogolla, there are many other sweets that patrons come here for—rossomalai, chamcham, lalmohan, misti dahi, prabhu bhog etc. They also offer sugar-free sweets for diabetics, canned rossogolla and snacks like singara, soya roll and peas kachori with aloordum and matar paneer. At present, this sweet shop has several branches in different parts of Kolkata (Esplanade East, Shyambazar, Lake Town, South Kolkata and Jodhpur Park) as well as Karnataka and Chennai. Do remember to stopover at this famous sweet shop at least once while you are in Kolkata.
