In the past year, Firdaus has been raising the bar for some excellent Hyderabadi (and North western frontier) cuisine. While the ambience, (ornate wooden columns, chandeliers, velvet upholstery), is not exult-worthy, the live ghazals recital in the evenings, attentive and unhurried service, and last but not the least, the superb cuisine, are well worth the tad-steep pricing. For starters, the meat kebabs (Shikampuri, Kasturi, Mutton Sheekh, Kakori, Murgh Malai) are delish, and Kumbh Galouti, Sarson Ke Phool and Bhatti ke Aloo are good vegetarian options. In main courses, Dum ka Murgh, Nalli Gosht, Hyderabadi Tawa Fried Fish, Jhinge ka Salan, are good, and so are Hyderabadi Haleem and Kacchi Gosht ki Biryani. Vegetarians will be well-advised to order Lehsooni Palak, Khatta Dal and Hyderabadi Salan. In desserts, Chikki kulfi and Khoobani ka Meetha are well-done. You may opt for Shahi Daawat (vegetarian, non-veg and sea food options), which takes you through the best of Hyderabadi food traditions (shorbas, kebabs, haleem, biryani, Indian breads, main courses and desserts).
