Wine, whiskey and beer tasting might be hip but in Melbourne there’s a new fad sweeping the city. Over the last few years, there has been an unprecedented spurt in the number of coffee outlets leading some connoisseurs to call it the next-gen wave in coffee. And it has brought with it a vocabulary all its own―organic, single-origin, fair trade, cold-brewed. Some of it sounds far too technical and ominous for something that is often considered mandatory by many to kickstart the day and keep it going. Nevertheless, a coffee tour in Melbourne’s down town, sipping on a variety of concoctions, stepping in and out of quirky and unusually cafes, is not a bad way to spend a morning.
