Dum Pukht is old wood, green leather, sepia prints and antique objects d'art. Stepping into this restaurant is like stepping into the past, located inside the very regal looking ITC Windsor is perhaps one of the finest examples of how Lucknowi food ought to be served. Taking its cue from the era of the 'Nabobs' of Lucknow and Khansamas, the menu card has a retro look and resembles an old woodcut print. Among its best offerings are Shorba Shahi Pasand, Tararey Jhinge, Kakori Kebabs, Dum ki Khumb, Koh-e-Avadi, Dal Dumpukht Qureshi (Master Chef's family recipe - arhar dal with hung yoghurt, tempered with burnt garlic) and Dum Pukht Biryani. Not to be missed is the Begum's Pudding made with milk solids, ground almonds, raisins and saffron in a delicate brandy sauce. If you are lucky you might find live music to add to your experience of dining here.
