Located at Luza Square, the Dubrovnik Clock Tower is a well-known landmark of the city. The tower stands tall at the east end of busy market area of Stradun. The original 31 m tall clock tower was built in 14th century, just 50 years after the first ever public clock was built in Italy. Since then the tower has gone through restructuring many times, the last one being in 1929. Located adjacent to the Sponza Palace, the clock tower overlooks Orlando’s Column and Sveti Vlaho Church. The two bronze figures, named ‘Maro’ and ‘Baro’ grace the clock tower, also known as 'Zelenci' or 'The Greens'. The best time to be at Stradun is in the afternoon at 12 when the bell weighing two tonnes is struck by the ‘Zelenci’ every noon.
