Get down with Joyce and the gang

Even if your reading tastes veer more toward Jilly Cooper than James Joyce, it's worth popping in to this little museum devoted to Dublin's august literary heritage. This is, after all, a city of writers, producing far more than its fair share of game-changing geniuses, many of whom were pretty interesting characters to boot.

Joyce, Yeats, Beckett, Shaw, Oscar Wilde and Bram Stoker are amongst those represented by first editions, photographs and memorabilia, with the booze-loving Brendan Behan proving particularly good value ('Great spot for a quiet piss up', reads his postcard from Los Angeles).

Situated in a Georgian building in the peaceful Parnell Square, a visit to the museum is easily combined with the Hugh Lane gallery, just a few doors along.
