You can soon fly to Andhra Pradesh's Kurnool airport

The Orvakal greenfield airport in Kurnool is one of the 50 low-cost airports that has been built for air connectivity in the country. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has granted aerodrome license or public use to the new airport. The airport is going to connect to remote areas through an energy-efficient system, and minimum security hold.
The airport is spread over 1000 ac, the foundation stone of which was laid in June 2017. It was later inaugurated by N Chandrababu Naidu, the then Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh in January 2019. The current Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, held numerous meetings with the Union Civil Aviation to finally get the license approved.
Kurnool is a city in Andhra Pradesh, and is known as the judicial capital of the state, located on the banks of the Tungabhadra river. The new airport will allow people of Kurnool district to find connectivity to the rest of India.

The license provided to it approves of the airport as an Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting category of aerodrome. This means that it needs to adhere to the rules of the Aerodrome Manual.
Meanwhile, the state government has also suggested that a pilot training and aircraft repair centre should be developed at Orvakal. The district of Kurnool will soon be an aviation hub, so here is hoping that you take many flights to your favourite destinations in the years to come.
