Known as the Emerald Lake, Big Lake or Yercaud Lake, the lake at Yercaud is the only naturally formed lake across all the hill stations in Tamil Nadu. The lovely garden situated along its banks and the high hills enclosing it from all sides, bestow a charming look and a mesmerising feel to the lake. The floating fountain in the lake is an additional attraction. Motor Boats and Row Boats are available for ride on the lake at a fee. In addition, tourists can also avail the facility to ride the self-rowing or self-peddling boats. The Deer Park and Leisure Park situated on the banks of the lake houses deers, swans, peacocks and hamsters. Plus, kids can freely play and use the swings kept in the vicinity. Overal, Yercaud Lake is a sure-shot option for a good family outing. Be sure to visit it by noon as the site restricts entry post 5 PM.
