World No Tobacco Day is a reminder of the harm that smoking causes, and so we unite to help smokers quit the habit and educate them. A smoking ban is an idea that societies have been toying with for quite some time, but it is easier said than done. After all, the tobacco industry generates massive tax revenues for any nation. Yet, there are certain countries that have managed to ban smoking in different degrees; while there may not be a complete ban in these countries, there are certain laws and regulations in place. So, this World No Tobacco Day, let us check out countries with a smoking ban in place, and be aware of such laws around the world.

Costa Rica smoking law prohibits smokers from using tobacco in taxis, buses, public buildings, bars, workplaces, and casinos. Also, enclosed public buildings are no smoking zones; furthermore, special smoking areas are not permitted.
Finally, we would like to mention about the Indian state of Sikkim. Smoking in public places has been banned in Sikkim, and it is illegal to do so. If you are caught, you will be fined between INR 200-500. It is also interesting to know that 12 Indian states had banned vaping earlier this year. Among these states were Punjab, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and Jammu & Kashmir.
