It was here in Wittenberg, that Martin Luther preached a belief in God without fear. To lead you successfully through times past, your best bet is hiring a guide for an hour or two. Chances are that he/she will arrive dressed the historical persona, thereby lending a sense of drama to an already dramatic tale. The trail includes a walk through the house that belonged to Luther, the largest reformation museum in the world. You will also see the door of the Wittenberg Castle Church, to which Luther nailed his thesis in 1517. What makes the present an especially good time to visit, is that the Luther Decade to celebrate the 500th anniversary of the reformation will continue until 2017.
