So, what are the stone spheres?
So, are they made by humans? Most definitely. Studies attribute the spheres to the indigenous Diquís people. This civilization was known for its advanced craftsmanship and social organization. Though they left no written records, making the spheres was one of their most enduring legacies. Archaeological evidence suggests the spheres were carved using rudimentary tools.

Many of these spheres were removed from their original sites, because of which, it was a challenge for researchers to study them. In the absence of proper studies, some local legends claim that these spheres were crafted by extraterrestrials. Some even say they have mystical powers!
Today, the stone spheres are recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, part of the “Pre-Columbian Chiefdom Settlements with Stone Spheres of the Diquís.” Visitors can view these artifacts at various locations, including the National Museum in San José and the sites where they were discovered.
