Located in the south of Alberta, just a couple hours’ drive from Calgary, is one of the most beautiful spots in all of Alberta; Waterton Lakes National Park. Although this destination sees visitors all year round, summer is undoubtedly the best time to head here. The suggested accommodation here is camping as you can then truly enjoy all the trails, the wildlife that saunters through the park on a regular basis, the long warm summer nights and the epic sunsets. Other summer activities include golfing, horseback riding, SUP, boating, shoreline cruises and more. In the wintertime there is a slower pace of life here and many bed and breakfasts are quieter which some visitors enjoy. Warm up by crackling fires, go wildlife watching in the park, strap on some snowshoes or Nordic skis or checkout Cameron Falls, a beautiful waterfall that seems even better in the winter. During the summertime all the businesses and restaurants are open in the town but it is important to note that many shut down in the winter months, making the town seem utterly deserted yet romantic as the streetlights bathe the main strip in soft light.
