Venice had recently set up tourist rules and it seems like they are seriously committed to them. Venice tourist rules included laws on littering, swimming in canals, and wandering shirtless in the streets. The punishment was a heavy fine, or banned from the city, and seems like something like that has now actually happened.
The recently laid out tourism laws in Venice were put in place to keep a check on tourists who disrupt the city’s peace. Venice tourist laws further state that visitors cannot sit or lie down in front of shops, historic monuments and bridges. The city had introduced a summer campaign last year called, #EnjoyRespectVenezia, and these recent tourist laws in Venice are just an extension of that campaign.
The rules, also known as Daspos, restrict people from behaving badly in public, while at the same time respecting the ancient city. Tourists should know that drinking alcohol on the streets is also forbidden between 8 PM and 8 AM. Also, if you are partaking in group celebrations on the streets, you have to conduct it only during the day, or at weekends. The fine for offenses are very high, so it is best that you abide by them!
