The ride to Val Roseg, a valley of the Swiss Alps, in a horse-carriage that can be clambered aboard from Pontresina, is a pleasant one. The scent through the wooded paths, of gentian, juniper, Swiss pine and mountain air is as heady as fragrances get. Friends to watch out for along the way include alpine birds and colonies of marmots. The famous ‘champagne climate’ in a valley that’s notoriously sun-blessed holds strong, as we take enough photographs to garland a gallery of the resplendent waterfalls and streams along the way.
