Going by the latest news reports, the Uttarakhand government is planning to come up with 13 new hill stations in order to promote tourism in the state. Considering that older places like Mussoorie and Nainital have reached their saturation point, the state government of Uttarakhand is already working towards developing more new touristy destinations.
Rawat also told the press that the recently introduced land reforms in Uttarakhand would iron out previous hiccups, and allow the investors from outside Uttarakhand to pool in their funds in the developments. The Uttarakhand state government’s endeavour was applauded by PM Modi during the summit. The PM also said that with the presence of Ganga, Char Dham, yoga, beautiful surroundings and adventure sports, Uttarakhand was already a complete package offered to the tourists, and also stressed on the need for the Uttarakhand to be built as a “special eco zone” as opposed to the conventional SEZs or Special Economic Zones.
