Museum of Folk and Tribal Art

Tucked away in a corner of Gurgaon (Sector 4), the Museum of Folk and Tribal Art is an undiscovered gem that houses one of the most distinguished collections in tribal, folk art and other art forms that are mostly neglected. Founded in 1984 by renowned painter and sculptor KC Aryan, the museum has been attracting art lovers, Fulbright scholars, art historians, academicians, and foreign dignitaries for the past two and a half decades. The museum boasts of a rich collection of artefacts from all across the country, especially from Rajasthan, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh. Thousands of folk and tribal bronze objects, litho prints, embellished folk toys, folk paintings, embroideries, tribal wood and stone carvings, ethnic jewellery, calico printing, wooden blocks, card puppets, papier-mâché masks, and utilitarian and ritualistic artefacts have found their way into the museum. Some of these objects are nearly 800 years old and are extinct in their place of origin.
