Ueno Park is more than your local swings and scrap of earth, but the name for the green bits surrounding Tokyo’s Zoo, Tokyo National Art Museum, National Science Museum, National Museum for Western Art and Tokyo Metropolitan Fine Art Museum. It also has a grand pagoda, a shrine and a large pond, but the thing that most people come to Ueno Park to see is the cherry trees in flower. There are over a thousand trees and during the season between March and April this park rings with the chatter of people attending cherry blossom parties.
