Airport Authority of India (AAI) has informed Punjab and Haryana High Court that the Chandigarh airport will become operational once the renovation work gets over. The airport will start operating from 7 am to 6 pm every day from June 1 onwards, and from July, it will remain open from 1 pm to 6 pm every Sunday.
The airport is currently closed until May 31, and is expected to open as per scheduled. Moreover, the Bench will receive a detailed report on May 25 regarding the Chandigarh airport renovation work. The airport will also get illuminated for night landing, and work on this regard has been initiated.

The runway length is also being extended from 9,000 ft to 10,400 ft so as to accommodate aircrafts with wider bodies, including Boeing 777, 787, and 747. These flights would be the long-haul ones, flying to Europe, the United States of America, and Canada.
Hopefully after June, passengers will be able to take flights from Chandigarh to other places around India, and abroad as well. However, do keep in mind the timings, and the fact that the airport would probably remain shut on Sundays.
