The Maharishi Mahesh Yogi Ashram, or what we dearly call The Beatles Ashram was in a dilapidated stage until it was rediscovered by the travellers a couple of years ago. Locally known as Chaurasi Kutia Ashram, it got the status of an official tourist attraction toward the later half of 2015 when the Uttarakhand Forest Department finally converted it into an eco friendly tourism destination. Located in a beautiful spot within the Rajaji National Park, with the river Ganga flowing quietly behind it, the place got the world’s attention when it briefly housed the band members of the legendary English rock band “The Beatles” in 1968. But with time, everyone forgot that, and the ashram turned into a ruin after it was abandoned in 1997. However, things are different now. Home to a couple of beautiful graffiti arts on the walls depicting the Beatles’ presence in this ashram, the tourists can visit this place by paying an entry fee.
