After the success of the much-anticipated Train 18, also known as the Vande Bharat Express, IRCTC has diverted its focus on high-speed trains primarily. Now that the Vande Bharat Express has successfully become India’s fastest running train, it has given new hopes to rail travel in India. Officials are now looking at the prospect of increasing the number of semi-high speed trains in the country.
Mr. Agrawal also said that Train 18 is a game changer in the world of railways and the board is interested to continue its manufacturing. They might also come up with sleeper-version coaches too.
He also informed about various initiatives that are being undertaken for the growth of the Indian Railways. For the comfort of consumers, the railways will upgrade their systems and bring about infrastructural changes too. All the conventional coaches will be replaced with electric multiple unit (EMU) to boost the speed of intercity trains.
