Manipur recently opened a Peace Museum in Imphal, after Britain and Japan joined hands to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Imphal. The Peace Museum Imphal is located 20 km southwest of Imphal, and has been built around a 10 acre land at the foothill of Red Hill.
Nippon Foundation’s Chairman, Yohei Sasakawa said in a statement, “I myself have experienced the suffering of war as I miraculously survived the Tokyo air raid amid raging flames. Since then I have lived with a strong desire to realize a world where everyone lives in peace and security.”
Dominic Asquith said in his statement that Britain and Japan work together today in close partnerships in order to protect global freedom. He further said that they India, Britain, and Japan will remember the people who lost their lives in the war for many years to come.
