Weather in north India has turned very cold as of now, leaving residents and travellers shivering. According to reports, Drass in Kargil district of Ladakh recorded a maximum of minus 2.9 degree Celsius on Tuesday. Dal Lake in Kashmir, on the other hand, froze partially with the temperature reaching minus 5.5 degree Celsius.
Himachal Pradesh also experienced a cold Christmas, as the temperature dipped to minus 9.4 degree Celsius in Keylong, and minus 3.2 degree Celsius in Manali on Monday evening. Shimla, on the other hand, experienced 1.7 degree Celsius minimum temperature.
Weather in Uttarakhand is such that light rain and snowfall is likely over the next few hours. The same is the forecast for Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Arunachal Pradesh.
Rest of India
According to the reports, dry weather and a gentle breeze can be expected in the central, western, eastern, and northeastern parts of India. Air quality gets special mention, as it is to remain poor to very poor across the country, and especially so in Delhi, Mumbai, and Kolkata. Scattered rain is possible over Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh.
Odisha and Kerala on the other hand could possibly experience scattered rain later in the week.
